What I thought was Sean's first feature TAKE OUT cost $3K and he co-directed it. The next I think cost around $120K. His first one (that I didn't know about), cost $50K according to IMDB. If memory serves, STARLET was $400K, and then TANGERINE cost $100K. 1st 5 features and total cost of $573K. Then he got $2M and that got 1 Oscar nom, and then back to $1.1M for his 7th feature, RED ROCKET -- total budget $3.673M, so a little more than $500K each. Add the 5 Oscars with ANORA and you have 8 films for a total budget of less than $10M total.

Obviously, he’s a survivor. He never gave up. He is now in a very good position. I just know so many filmmakers of tremendous talent who have not been successful. His speech was an inspiration. Perhaps many who are struggling will take his words to heart and not give up. That’s what my goal is: to make it easier for all those talented filmmakers to make the films that they want to make and of course to get them seen.
