Here's How You CAN Get An Independent Movie Financed Today
50 Reasons Why They Will Invest In Your Movie Now
AKA why investors should not neglect individual film finance
I know it looks bleak out there, but don’t think you can’t navigate through the fog. I will even go as far to say that you can get an ambitious film financed these days – the kind they tell you no one will make these days. Just look at THE BRUTALIST. That should give folks some significant hope. Granted it took Brady Corbet seven years, but know what? Seven years has long been the number of years that go between a first and second film, and for anyone responsible for raising a family while making films, it is always the same time frame. So it is his third, and now everyone can see it is “a masterpiece”, but it takes that long currently to get the money to back your project. It is not a reason to despair.
Today I am going to put some honey in your tea.
Last go round, I asked those who held the purse strings to look beyond the individual film and instead consider looking at the ecosystem and how and why it is a great time to look at putting some money in the cinema ecosystem sector. I was asking folks to look at building a better mousetrap, and not just more cheese. We have plenty of bait already. We should be able to lure them in, but do we know what to do with the audience when do? Have we ever?
For you more focused readers, you know that I think wise investors would not only help fund the necessary operational improvements and innovations to the ecosystem, but also have funds allocated for marketing of individual projects, and to do that before or alongside any investments they make in production. Yes, I counsel them to do so. And I also think there are many new models we can build and offer to incentivize new and serious money in our space. But that is all another discussion. We have so much to talk about, right?
