Answers To Know Before The Questions Are Asked
SO#?: More than an alibi, I want you to find the fast route out of the troubles.
StartingOut# : It is not only the dark thoughts that help prepare you for the hard road you’ve chosen. Yes, fantasizing about the tigers and other beasts that want to make a midnight snack of you, will help you develop the pattern recognition needed to catch those spots in the night, but so will the dream of your best self, and frankly sometimes that is a much cozier place to dwell on a cold night in the cave.
To reap a positive harvest, dreaming utopian does not have to be constrained to the self either. I encourage you to constantly be extending utopian dreaming further into all aspects of life as a way of spotting the short cuts and packing wisely for the long haul. But today I want to focus on you.. Well… and on me too. You know: us.
What questions can we throw at ourselves to ponder that will help us in the long run? To spot what we love faster, who we can collaborate well with quicker? What can help us develop tenacity and perseverance? What can bring our tactics and goals into better alignment? Can we find a path to more fun? To never growing bitter at the slog that is required just to endure, let alone prosper? I think so.
Like most things, a little preparation now, will yield dividends in the long run. Many folks strive to live in the moment and be here now, but we also get caught up in the moment and can easily forget why we started out in the first place. It’s both, and — and a little more than too.
I find this is a list I expand and contract over time. Seventeen questions today. Maybe some more to add tomorrow. And besides, you need to build your own list. Now’s the time to start if you haven’t already.
And just in case it isn’t obvious, I don’t think anyone should get hired on the crew or in the office, be looked at as a possible collaborator, unless it seems apparent that you’ve answered these questions for us. How are you going to pass the test, if you don’t know the questions in advance? Ha! So, let’s get to it, shall we?
