Why we must change the goals of so-called "indie" film
Can I offer you some steps towards change?
I told you this before.
In fact, I have gone over it several times now, in different ways, with different tones and different frames of mind. Sometimes when I do this, I am joyous. And sometimes very, very frustrated.
Change is hard. Change is slow. And yet sometimes, change comes at us faster than a locomotive.
That’s what we need right now— something faster than a bullet train — so I am going to share this with you again and in a new simple step-by-step process so we can all get it tattooed across our body and never forget. Maybe though, write in reverse so we can see the truth when we look in the mirror.
And yes, this time it is going to be a bit different, again. We are getting it right. Slowly but surely. That’s what iterative creation is all about. Perhaps, it is a little about obsessiveness too, but hey, to each their own, right?
And to be clear, no blame here. We all drank the same kool-aid. It put a rose-colored tint to our squint. Squash that squint fast though. We are waist deep in the quicksand with no branch to latch onto.
This is that time in the story where we must hold each other’s hand if we are going to get to the dry land. Let me map out for you, step by step. You will see clearly how we got here and why we must move on. You won’t let us stay here. You will change how you do things. Or else, all you will leave is that hat sitting where once a great opportunity stood.
