Have we moved on from original ideas, or are we leaving a tremendous amount of money on the table?
Have we just forgotten how to do it well, or are those in charge looking down the wrong path, again?
Do you read FranchiseRe.biz newsletter here on Substack? I do and I look forward to their Sunday box office consideration. They deliver “succinct, unbiased information” and that is refreshing. There are insights always to be had and you should make it part of your diet. In addition to looking at the BO performance of two or three wide releases, they often look at a genre or category of film overall. I particularly liked their recent exploration of original stories. You should check out the full post from which generated this chart.

Invest and diversify
To the hammer, everything looks like a nail. I am speaking of myself here. Someone can write about how Big Tech totally squashed Big Media, and how Big Media learned all the wrong lessons along the way, but when I read it, I see it as advice for the individual filmmaker. Evan Shapiro started the week off with some great advice, and although directed to the corporate tower, us dirt farmers would be wise to pay heed too.
Invest and diversify -- what works for the biggest also works for us as individuals. The world does not encourage one-trick ponies any more... unfortunately.

Tomorrow arrived yesterday. Catch up fast!
I am sure this is going to be very very very cool!
“Columbia DSL’s Breakthroughs in Storytelling Awards celebrate the most innovative examples of digitally enabled storytelling in any medium, be it art, advertising, film, games, journalism, literature, marketing, television or theater. We don’t have categories because digital technology doesn’t respect boundaries, it erases them. VR? AR? AI? Games? Books? Join us online on Wednesday, November 13 to see where the greatest advances came from this year.”

Hey AMPAS! We count on you to save our past!!!
Did you read how AMPAS has let their film archive staff go? I don't know about you, but when I think of preserving our film culture, I think it starts with the film. As an AMPAS member, future-proofing our work and the commitment to that, is one of the most important things I can think of AMPAS doing. Please sign this petition, if you feel similarly, whether or not you are an AMPAS member. Thank you. https://www.change.org/p/to-the-ampas-board-of-governors-rehire-the-the-film-archive-and-library-16

Could you build this for me?
I have a long list of things I’d like to have in this world to make an artist/entrepreneur’s life more sustainable. I don’t know about you, I think we need to generate such ideas and share them if we ever want to get out of this rut we are in. C’mon I know you know that it could be so much better than it is.
