This another post for paid subscribers only (or those that I gifted). If you have financial hardship and would like a subscription, just let me know and I’ve got you. I know you’d do the same, right?
Wouldn’t that be nice if that was how the FKATheFilmBiz worked generally? You know, each of us always looking out for each other? We could make both kindness and generosity one of our First Principles. How about we all just try to help somebody somehow every week? Too easy right? You are probably doing that already. The truth is the folks I know who are doing well, do that many times over each day. It is what producers and leaders do. Artists and journalists too. Really most creative folks. Forget the myth of selfish artist or entrepreneur; those in the field I know give so much. Real leadership IS kindness and generosity.
Take a newsletter for instance. I have about 7000 subscribers now. About 91% don’t currently pay. That’s great. I love that you subscribe. I generally provide a free post a week to about 6300 people. If I am doing the math right, that’s over 328,000 gifts a year. I will sleep better when I know I am giving 1000 gifts a day for the year, so maybe you could help me. If you can locate 37,000 film students for me, I will happily gift them. Or that many once working professionals that the industry can’t currently support. I may not currently have a job, but that will help me sleep better! Let me give you a hand as I currently can; when things get better, you’ll pay it forward too, right?
I’ve got at least fifteen links from the cinema ecosystem space for you today, along with a few toe dips into some other culture streams.

I am debating whether it will be another post on the need for utopian thinking/dreaming or that ‘ol chestnut theme of “are we effin blind to all the fuckery going on or do we just not care?!”. Maybe it needs to be more of a “both/and” than the horse corpse of “either/or”….
