Special Birthday Discount HopeForFilm Subscription (and other unrelated thoughts)
The older we get, the more we have to give away
Tomorrow’s my birthday. So as I gift to you all, I am offering a 50% discount on an annual subscription for the next 2 days. Crazy, eh?
How’s this for crazy: if 25 people opt to exercise these discounts, I will keep it up for each day that 5 more people opt in. Win, win? We will see how many actually do…

The chicken or the egg? The anger or the appreciation?
The question is "how to fix what's broken in cinema" but the feeling it summons is The Thing. It just feels like anger comes first, and I have to calm myself with appreciation. But the truth is it starts with the appreciation. I love cinema. And I actually love the cinema business. I even love the cinema ecosystem that exists. But then when I question how it could work better, I see how poorly it all works, and particularly how few it benefits and the way it benefits the few it does, and the anger just mounts rapidly, totally obscuring my appreciation. If only catergorizing all the concepts we need to hold close to see clearly could actually be enough to facilitate change. Unfortunately, even in doing so, I don't think it will do that much other than providing me some joy to have it collected in one place so at least I feel like I can contain it. Whew!
