knock, knock. here we go again.

Why do I keep doing it?

Why do you?

We know how this ends. Pain. Frustration. Maybe humiliation. The feeling of being used. Of being chewed up and tossed aside by a system that neither understands nor values what we do. And yet—we go back. Again and again. Is it compulsion? Delusion? Hope?

We keep trying to get our films made within a system that barely respects the process, let alone the people who do it very well.

We need to confront the situation. See it for what it is. Not blame ourselves for how we’ve been exploited, but yet still be willing to take responsibility for escaping it in the future. We can. We will. Let’s get the hell away from those that will inevitably inflict harm upon us and our work. We can do it together. Let’s lend a hand.

Welcome to HopeForFilm, where we shine a light on the collective way to escape those that are too willing to hurt us in the first place. Please contribute in whatever manner you can. Leave a comment, a heart, and consider becoming a free or paid subscriber today.
