The final 10% of a film is the most challenging to execute – and some woefully think the most unnecessary. But is there really a terrain knows as “good enough”? And would anyone really want to dwell there if there is? Friends have recently shared tales where their financiers told them to stop pushing to make it better —- as the cost was never worth the result. Are we now in the era of mandated mediocrity? And if so, do we understand how necessary it is to rebel? Faaaaack!!!!!
Why would anyone settle with being good enough, particularly when it comes to art? More than ever before, movies are sold on their concepts. Even their elements are now secondary – stars barely even matter. When it comes to putting butts in the seats, or rather clicking on a thumbnail, these are the drivers: concepts and elements. And that sucks.
In the realm of the GlobalStreamingPlatforms, they also however rely on a third element of equal, if not greater, import: the UX – the User Experience or Interface, and there the merchandising they provide is the most fearsome king. It’s not the individual merchandising that actually mattersthough, because it is all pretty much the same; it is the complete grock that is the killer blow– the pieces and the whole, the way you move and explore, the dance and the meal. That seals the deal on what you watch that night; the customer only thinks she is in control.
The GlobalStreamingPlatforms solved one the FKATheFilmBiz’s greatest problems: the excessive cost of marketing. Sure they still spend gobs on enhancing what they have, but gone are the days when they had to spend bundles of cash just to get folks to engage. Now they put it – the image, the title, the sound, movement and blurb -- up in a prominent way and if you don’t click it, they failed big time. But that doesn’t happen. They don’t fail. They know what they need to make you behave as they want. You are predictable. So very fucking predictable – and it is really kinda sad. Or rather, probably 90% of you are such. You who watch. You who click. You who subscribe. And as a result, our culture is now in the toilet. But we know it is going to change. To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Time to move into a new sphere.
So faced with this double wall of resistance, you artists and you artist/entrepreneurs, are you prepared for the battle? Do you know why it is so critical to win? Do you see the enemy? Do you know how to put up your dukes and fight? Why I oughtta…..
This is a war that is actually won with love. Love and devotion. Love, devotion, and inclusion. And a great deal of focus. I want to help you to get ready for the lifelong battle that is ahead of you. You want that too? Let’s go! I am going share how it is done.
