Before we begin today’s monday morning movie musing and meditation, please pardon this announcement:

TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE FOR THE NYC OPENING OF INVISIBLE NATION

at The Quad. One Week Only! Please buy your tickets now. Maybe if we sell out all the shows, we will get a second week somewhere else!

My wife and partner, Vanessa has worked on this for seven years. Same here with me, but not nearly as hard as she has.  We've played over 30 festivals and won prizes at four. It hasn't been reviewed outside of Variety yet, but that was excellent.

We will be there in NYC for the first two shows. Please come see it. It will mean a lot to us to see you there. If we sell out right away we may be able to book some additional shows.  Please help! Order tickets here:  https://quadcinema.com/film/invisible-nation/

As a matter of fact, today is Taiwan’s peaceful transition of power. Imagine that! Tsai’s legacy was just highlighted by CNN and they use our film as much of the source. Check it out: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/18/asia/tsai-taiwan-map-china-intl-hnk-dst/index.html

And Now Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Show!

I was going to barrage you with another massive list; I got started on it about two weeks ago when the latest clue hit and then others started to pile up around it. Soon there were too many new signs to ignore. I did my usual observation exercises and soon I had a new list of twenty new demonstrations that the world we once knew and loved has been destroyed. I shared the first one already.

When I fall into these shadow realms, some friends try to help and encourage me to just chalk it all up to “things change”. I get that things change. But as much as change is constant, when that change is the total and utter destruction of what once was cinema – be it the art or industry – we have to acknowledge that our total demise is also gaining speed, rapidly. It can be avoided, but you have to first be both grounded and dreamy simultaneously. And we don’t really do either one, do we?

Regardless of the new evidence piling up — and before I share the new tsunami — it probably behooves you to start with that post I wrote eight months back (and still is my #1 most read). Back then I put 51 clues down for you to pick up on in that dispatch alone. And if you are TLDR type, you can watch the lecture I gave last year that captured that and more. All those clues still stand tall today. And as I said, we’ve now got more in store for you, or will when I share them in the weeks ahead.

Yup, it’s almost time for another installment of one of Uncle Ted’s favorite themes: “are we effin blind to all the fuckery going on or do we just not care?!”.  I really can’t find a better explanation for why we shun the evidence and refuse to build something new other than the tune Carol King penned and Adam Curtis appropriated for one of his many brilliant film essays. Hum, a few bars with me, will you?

We must all be both sadists and masochists. We are hitting ourselves and seemingly enjoy it. Why don’t we leave? Does it really feel like a kiss? What can we learn by examining such inexplicable behavior? There is more than one tell in our behavior that speaks of the deeper truth, the opportunities inherent, and alternate path away from the flying monkees.
