Perhaps you’ve been contemplating starting your own newsletter. Have you read my initial post on “What Sort Of Person Can Run A Successful Newsletter”? Consider this post a follow up to that.
I think many of you are self-starters. Some of you may need a coach, or editor, to launch and maintain a newsletter. Regardless of where you stand, we all benefit from building and sharing Best Practices, although little of it gets done in the FKATFB. We really could use an annual Best Practices Summit.
In that spirit, I am sharing this contemplation from my morning walk. It is a work in progress, so please do share anything you feel I missed or feel I could express better. Thank you.
35+ Best Practices BEFORE You Launch Your Newsletter
There are no rules. These are but practices that have worked for me. Throw out anything that doesn’t apply to yourself.
Recognize that “newsletter” is antiquated term. What we now call newsletters are a medi-rich platform that can hold audio, video, still images, and text. Play with it as best you can.
Recognize the “newsletter” is an engagement machine. Many people subscribe to be engaged with the writer. It is not just news, but a conversation.
